First Place Academic Achievement Award for doctoral dissertation!
The WaterSTP group is pleased to announce that recent graduate, Dr. Alex Ho Shing Chik, has received the 2021 American Water Works Association (AWWA) first place Academic Achievement Award for his doctoral dissertation. This international award encourages academic excellence by recognizing contributions to the field of public water supply.
All master’s thesis and doctoral dissertations that are relevant to the water supply industry are eligible. Alex’s thesis is entitled “Advancing Microbial Risk Assessments of Subsurface Water Sources” and is available for viewing or download. It is a joint doctorate issued by the University of Waterloo, Vienna University of Technology, and Utrecht University. His supervisors were Drs. M.B. Emelko, A.P. Blaschke, and J.F. Schijven. The award will be formally presented at the AWWA Annual Conference and Exposition (ACE) in June. Alex is currently employed by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA).
