Hi all…the final report of the Flint Water Advisory Task Force is now available on-line at no cost. The 116 page report is a bit difficult to quickly summarize; on the plus side, it’s very comprehensive. The task force arrived at 36 findings and has provided 42 recommendations for a variety of agencies/governing bodies. I found the summary of events interesting but it’s still hard to believe that so many opportunities to have avoided this completely or at least in time to mitigate the impact were missed given the general awareness of the causes of previous contamination events worldwide, improved training in the past decade, and the current regulatory environment in the US.

Flint Water Advisory Task Force-Final Report
March 21, 2016
“We hope that our report serves three fundamental purposes:
- Clarify and simplify the narrative regarding the roles of the parties involved, and assign accountability clearly and unambiguously.
- Highlight the causes for the failures of government that precipitated the crisis and suggest measures to prevent such failures in the future.
- Prescribe recommendations to care for the Flint community and to use the lessons of Flint’s experience to better safeguard Michigan residents.”
